&L designed a new absorption chiller plant for Champion's existing facility in West Nyack, Rockland County, NY.  The project began as a study of the building's existing cooling load which has increased over the years.

The project included preparation of construction bid documents for replacement of a 35+ year old chiller with a new 455 ton absorption chiller.  Larger chilled water and condenser water pumps were selected as well as larger CHW/CW piping systems.  The cooling tower was performance tested and subsequently modified to perform at the increased capacity.  The new chiller was installed through a temporary roof opening via crane, thus minimizing downtime and disruption within the facility.  Structural and architectural subconsultants were used to design the large roof opening.
